About the Badge

The Upcycle a Quilt Badge encourages Scouts to cultivate sustainability and creativity by repurposing old or damaged quilts into new, functional items. This badge promotes the values of resource conservation and creativity, as Scouts learn to breathe new life into materials that might otherwise be discarded.

Badge Requirements

• Select an old or damaged quilt and assess its condition, planning how to transform it into a new product.
• Design a project that repurposes the quilt into a new item, such as a garment, accessory, or home decor piece, ensuring that the design is both practical and creative.
• Use sewing and quilting techniques to execute the transformation, documenting each step of the process.
• Reflect on the project and how upcycling can impact environmental sustainability and personal creativity

Badge Options

Embroidered Patch

The embroidered patch consists of high-quality embroidery on a twill backing. The patch measures 2″ x 2″. The patch has a Pellon interfacing on the back to cover embroidery threads and is intended to be sewn-on. It is not an iron-on patch.

Vinyl Sticker

The sticker is a thick and durable vinyl that is weatherproof and waterproof. Vinyl sticker measures 2″ x 2″.
