About the Badge
The Longarm Quilter Badge introduces Scouts to the process of quilting a finished quilt top using a longarm quilting machine. This badge focuses on preparation, communication, and understanding the longarm quilting workflow.
Badge Requirements
- Learn the basics of longarm quilting and how it differs from domestic machine quilting.
- Prepare a quilt top for longarm quilting, including pressing, trimming threads, and squaring the quilt.
- Choose backing fabric and batting suitable for longarm quilting.
- Either quilt your project on a longarm machine yourself or send a quilt to a longarm quilter for finishing.
- Reflect on the experience and what you learned about quilting density, thread choice, or design.

Badge Options
Embroidered Patch
The embroidered patch consists of high-quality embroidery on a twill backing. The patch measures 2″ x 2″. The patch has a Pellon interfacing on the back to cover embroidery threads and is intended to be sewn-on. It is not an iron-on patch.
Vinyl Sticker
The sticker is a thick and durable vinyl that is weatherproof and waterproof. Vinyl sticker measures 2″ x 2″.
