About the Badge

The Improv Quilt Badge encourages scouts to explore the creative and spontaneous side of quilting through improvisational techniques. This badge aims to foster creativity, innovation, and personal expression by allowing scouts to create unique, one-of-a-kind quilts without the use of predetermined patterns or layouts.

Badge Requirements

• Understand the basics of color theory and fabric selection.
• Create a series of small fabric sketches or practice blocks to experiment with different improv techniques.
• Design and complete a full-sized improv quilt.
• Document the creative process with photos or a journal.
• Reflect on the experience of making an improv quilt.
• Bonus: Share photos of your improv quilt!

Badge Options

Embroidered Patch

The embroidered patch consists of high-quality embroidery on a twill backing. The patch measures 2″ x 2″. The patch has a Pellon interfacing on the back to cover embroidery threads and is intended to be sewn-on. It is not an iron-on patch.

Vinyl Sticker

The sticker is a thick and durable vinyl that is weatherproof and waterproof. Vinyl sticker measures 2″ x 2″.
